Fifteen years ago, the artist, screenwriter and director Jan Tománek attracted a lot of attention with his animated films Goat Story and Goat Story with Cheese from Medieval Prague, which attracted several hundred thousand people to the cinema, but he still did not continue in filmmaking. “It was no longer fulfilling for me, I did not want to work in a film studio all my life,” he revealed in an interview on the program Prostor pro dva with Marek Stoniš. Since then, he has devoted himself fully to writing and published several novels whose leitmotif is human freedom. “In the fight for freedom, everyone must start with themselves, no one will provide it for us,” claims Tománek.
Jan Tománek is a co-founder of the civic association Zdravé fórum. In 2020, at the time of the beginning of state measures due to the covid-19 pandemic, he became one of the biggest enemies of the complicity of state institutions and mainstream media, losing several friends and acquaintances. “I also experienced that when they met me, they crossed to the other side,” he recalls in an interview. Among other things, he also lost all illusions and faith in scientific and medical authorities and the media. He positively perceives the new American administration's efforts to expose alleged fraud and manipulation around covid, but according to him, there will be no complete reflection because the pharmaceutical industry is too powerful.
